Gentle Support, Mother-Centered Care

PRENATAL SUPPORT
It is my goal to make this special time in your life the best and healthiest possible. During your care we have ongoing conversations about nutrition, exercise, sleep quality, emotional health and so much more. I work with you to prepare, mind and body, for labor and birth. We discuss your fears, and help you process and work through them. I believe good nutrition and exercise go a long way in preventing complications, and even reversing them.
All appointments happen in your home, no need to wait in a waiting room. Your care is centered around you.
LABOR AND BIRTH SUPPORT
I am on call for you 24/7 as you approach your birthing time. When you call, I will be there to support you through out your birth and into the immediate postpartum (minimum of two hours after birth).
One of the questions that is frequently asked is “what about the mess?” First, we have a set up that helps to lessen the mess and make clean up easier. Second, I clean it all before I leave, no need for you or your spouse to worry about. After all has been cleaned up, baby and mom are stable and snuggled in bed, and breastfeeding has been established, then I will leave and you will get to rest in your own bed.

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT
After birth, I stay for at least 2 hours to make sure mom and baby are stable.
I return 24-48 hours later and can do the newborn screening (a simple heel prick to screen for metabolic disorders). We do a full postpartum visit for both you and baby. I return again around day 4, 1 week, 2 weeks (second part of the newborn screwing), 4 weeks and our last appointment at 6 weeks.
As a licensed midwife I can provide newborn care for up to 6 weeks.
VBAC
Yes! We can assist with VBAC, contact us today to discuss your individual options.

DARYL ALLEN
Midwife
I’m so happy to finally be able to serve the women in southern New Mexico. I’m a wife and mother to 4 children. I have 3 sons and a daughter. Easton 6, Karter 5, Jones 1, and Millie Grey is my baby. My first two children were born in hospitals and my last two were born at home during my midwifery apprenticeship. I began my apprenticeship over 4 years. Another local midwife, Liz Derry, was my mentor and my biggest support. I attended over 40 births with her. After completing the National exam through NARM, I received my license in New Mexico. I truly love serving women and helping them achieve their goals, and look forward to supporting you.
